A
Guide To Anjuna Beach, The Freak Capital
Of The World
Anjuna
Beach has the dubious title of being
the freak capital of the world. In
the 1950’s and subsequently
the 1960’s travelers discovered
this Goa beach and began to meet on
a regularbasis to hold trance parties.
The psychedelic scene that emerged
made Anjuna one of the most popular
beaches in Goa for some time.
While
the reputation of Anjuna has changed
slightly in recent years, its popularity
has far from dwindled.
As well as proving to
be an ever-popular Goa beach with vacationers
lookin for a lazy time, the party
scene still lives on during certain
times of the year.
Scenes of night long partying
with beach fires and alcohol are commonplace,
especially arranged four young tourists. These parties are called full moon or acid
house parties. |

As well as the full moon parties, Anjuna
offers visitors the splendor of the Mascarenhas
mansion famed for its exquisite stained glass
windows and expensive wooden seating.
On Wednesdays
this Goa beach comes alive thanks to the flea
market. Anything you could possibly want can be
found at the flea market and there are plenty
of vacation bargains to be found.
Anjuna, like many of the more popular beaches
in Goa, is well populated by restaurants, bars,
shops and other amenities. In most cases these
are directly on the beach.
Accommodation is also
usually easy to find although if you are visiting
during a full moon party you may find it slightly
more difficult to find a vacancy.
Beaches in Goa find themselves packed with tourists
between the months of November and February because
of their clement climate. |
This is warm season
and you should be aware that extremely heavy rainfall
will occur between June and October. However,
at the freak capital of the world not even a considerable
downpour will prevent the party from going ahead.
