As
well as featuring some of the most stunning
beaches in the world, Goa is also home to
historical mansions and forts.
During any
forts tour Goa has to offer you should include
a visit to Teracol Fort in the town of Tiracol.
Now a hotel and small village in its own
right, Teracol Fort is still an integral
part of Goan history.
Clearly a lot of the
original fort has been upgraded but you can
get a definite sense of the history that
is steeped within its walls whether you choose
to go on a forts tour Goa trip or on a week
long vacation.
Tiracol was a highly sought
after region because of its prominent position
over the river and because it had the right
to collect taxes from passing ships. Because of this the Portuguese captured
it in 1776.
As well as the hotel amenities, visitors
are also subjected to the pleasures of the 100-year-old
church and 400-year-old chapel that are a sanctuary
to times gone by and the long history this area
holds. |
