As
with many historical buildings of the area that
you will see during your Goa forts tour, the gate
is made of local laterite stone.
The columns found
on either side of the gate were actually constructed
of basalt.
Goa Forts are among some of the finest examples
of historical buildings in the world and many
Goa forts can still be visited although they may
now lie in ruin.
The gate Of The College Of St
Paul is a very good, if simple, example of architecture
around the time it was built.
A Goa forts tour
takes visitors around many of these historically
significant buildings and gives an excellent insight
into the history of the beautiful countryside,
the incredible beaches and more significantly
the outstanding forts. |
